Coaching

If you examine the different roles of a Leader one that constantly appears is that of Coach.

Coaching competencies may need to be deployed at different times and can be dependent on the skills of the person being coached as flagged in Hersey and Blanchards Situational Leadership Model. .

Many of us have become gifted amateurs in Coaching as we have received little formal training and have learned on the job from our own experience.  This is not a strong foundation for competence and Leadership development as it is ad-hoc, relies on our own career path and role models - which can vary wildly - and has no sustainable grounding in education.

To help us develop as Coaches and distinguish between being a Coach and being a Facilitator or Mentor learn some of the sound basic foundation blocks that you will find useful to help your coaching development.

As a Leader either formally or informally see the role that coaching can play as an important part of your own and your teams success.
